Who is wintertickle press?

Wintertickle Press began in 2000 as a traditional publisher quietly dedicated to developing useful resources for Ontario teachers. However, in 2013, the company branched out to also include trade books, specializing in nonfiction with purpose. Now, in 2026, the publisher is again moving forward, releasing its first fiction book, Scorpion Grass, book one in The Shift series. The emphasis in the coming years is dedicated to fifth-wave feminism and advancing the basic human rights of women worldwide.

The name Wintertickle comes from Central Newfoundland and Labrador. It is named after a pond (known as a lake to mainlanders) where the founder's grandfather, the mail carrier, used to sometimes stay overnight in the winter when he couldn't make it back home to his cove with his dog sled...and the mail.

Founded in 2000, Wintertickle Press has been instrumental in publishing over 100 titles, using the traditional method of publishing based on merit and editorial strength.
